Scholarships and Financial Aid for Nursing Students

As a nursing student, you have a unique opportunity to actually have your entire tuition covered by financial aid. Because the national nursing shortage makes it difficult for locations across the country to find staff nurses, private organizations, government departments, hospitals, colleges, and more all offer scholarships and grants fro nursing students – and often, more scholarships are available and in higher amounts than you’ll find in other industries. How can you cash in on this free money for college? Here’s what you need to know about financial aid if you want a nursing degree:

Where to Find Financial Aid for Nursing Students

Scholarships and other forms of financial aid for nurses are available from a variety of sources, but the large funds that are most readily available to students are from colleges themselves. When you determine which college to attend, take a look at the financial aid available. Most colleges have a financial aid department to help you learn about your options. From there, you can also check out government sources. Undergrads should consider the federal Pell Grant, which is available to all students who show financial need simply by filling out the FAFSA form. For nurses, other government funds are also available. Lastly, check out outside organizations of nursing financial aid. National, state, and local nursing organizations typically have scholarship funds, and community organizations also typically offer students money for college.
